Fierce Verstappen hits back at Herbert: “Isn’t it abnormal?”

Fierce Verstappen hits back at Herbert: “Isn’t it abnormal?”

Max Verstappen is the center of attention this weekend in Brazil. After his punishments in Mexico and the criticism of his driving style, everyone wanted to know something about him. Verstappen is not that concerned about the opinions of others, but he was not very happy with the statements of driver stewards Johnny Herbert.

Former driver Herbert is a steward again this weekend, and he was also in Mexico. He was partly responsible for the two ten-second time penalties that Verstappen received. The day after the race, Herbert spoke out about the penalties and refuted accusations of bias. The Briton then criticized Verstappen’s driving style, causing controversy. In Brazil he acts as a steward again, although that is the last time this season.

Abnormal

Herbert stated, among other things, that he is not a fan of Verstappen’s ‘horrible’ mentality. The Dutchman has also experienced this and in Brazil he reacts strongly, he is quoted by De Telegraaf: “Well, now you know how he feels about it. It is quite abnormal that he says this, right? It is pretended that I All on purpose. But they can’t see into my head. Sometimes they are quite extreme accusations. That’s right. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.”

Community service

Herbert was also one of the stewards who gave Verstappen community service in Singapore for swearing during the press conference. Charles Leclerc also swore during the press conference in Mexico, but he has not yet been punished. Verstappen refers to his community service: “Then Herbert had his big opinion ready. What I said was not possible, because 5-year-olds hear that too. After Mexico I did not hear him when Charles said the same thing. At a press conference that will be much better Anyway, it was already late in Europe, maybe the idea was that those 5-year-olds were all already sleeping.”

Passport

In addition to Herbert, Damon Hill and Martin Brundle were also critical of Verstappen. When confronted with Brundle’s words, he is clear: “If they all knew it so well before their careers, they would all have become world champions. I know that there are a lot of people who are biased and that I have the wrong passport. I I’m very happy with my passport, but in this paddock it’s the wrong one. I know how most people work. Last year it must have hurt a lot of people that they couldn’t say anything negative Now it’s all coming out and they’re going all in. It doesn’t faze me.”
