National Sports Award 2024 recognizes Olympic and Paralympic medalists in emotional ceremony

Mexico.- The 2024 edition of National Sports Award (PND) has awarded athletes who shone in recent Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games. The delivery ceremony will take place on November 20 at National Palacewhere the president Claudia Sheinbaum will personally award the recognition to each winner, in a celebration that promises to praise the effort, dedication and commitment of Mexican athletes.

Among the winners in non-professional sports, the following stand out: Prisca Awitiwho took the silver medal in judo, and Green Frameboxing medalist. The divers Osmar Olvera and Juan Celaya They were also recognized after their outstanding participation in synchronized trampoline, where they obtained a silver medal.

In the Paralympic sport category, the gold medalist in shot put, Gloria Zarzaand wheelchair sprinter Juan Pablo Cervantes were awarded for their achievements in Paris. Both have demonstrated an exceptional competitive level, reflecting the spirit of perseverance of Mexican Paralympic sport.

For its part, in the professional field, Charlyn Corralforward of the Pachuca women’s team, was recognized for her outstanding career and leadership in the Liga MX. In the category of best judge, Katia Itzel García won the award after her participation as a referee in men’s matches of the Liga MX and at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, consolidating itself as one of the references in sports arbitration.

The lifetime achievement award was given to Daniel Aceves, who won the silver medal in Greco-Roman wrestling in Los Angeles 1984, and to the diver Alejandra Orozco, who, with her medals in London 2012 and Rio de Janeiro 2016, has become a of the most beloved figures in national sports.

The PND 2024 also awarded coaches who have been key to the success of their athletes. Radamés Hernández, coach of Marco Verde, was recognized in this edition, as were Paralympic coaches Iván Rodríguez and Martín Velasco, who have been fundamental in the success of their athletes on international stages.

In the Sports Promotion category, the Harp Helú Foundation was awarded for its constant drive and support for sports development in Mexico, consolidating itself as a benchmark in the field of sports promotion and support for new generations of athletes.
