Top 5 IKEA Products Interior Designers Avoid: Discover the First One You Probably Own!

USA – While Ikea may not have the best reputation for quality, it’s clear that it can still be a great source for stylish furniture at a reasonable price. However, the interior designer claims that there are several products that you should definitely not buy.

Ikea is known for its complex aisles that can confuse even the most experienced shopper. However, in her series of TikTok videos, interior designer Annie Elliott shared expert advice on which products customers should avoid, especially when decorating smaller spaces.

1. TÅGARP floor lamp

One product that Elliott definitely doesn’t recommend is the TÅGARP floor lamp, which can be found in many startup households. Despite its popularity, Elliott strongly warns against buying it: “Do not buy this lamp! Anything else but this lamp is hideous please don’t buy it! She is so ugly!’ he says in the video. “I don’t care if it costs $14 (€12.95) – I’ll pay you not to buy it.” He explains that the overhead light is directed directly at the ceiling, meaning it illuminates the ceiling where you don’t need the light at all, and then reflects back down very unsightly.

2. Pee OFTEN

In addition to affordable furniture, Ikea also offers a number of inexpensive options in the field of kitchenware. “If you don’t want to go vintage, which is totally fine, don’t be tempted by these bowls,” he warns in his next TikTok video. “They’re really thin and they just break if you drop them, so I really don’t like these bowls,” she explained. Elliottová points out that even when choosing kitchen accessories, it is important to take into account not only the price, but also the quality and durability of the products. While cheap bowls may seem like a good deal at first glance, their poor quality can lead to disappointment in the long run.

3. SANDTRAV pillow

Silk pillows can be one of the easiest ways to freshen up a space with minimal effort. “This covering has a sad effect on me,” Elliott says while holding a dark pillow. “The insert is really good, but why would you buy a gray pillow? It’s meant to be a cheerful, fun addition! There’s nothing funny about a dark shade.’ When choosing pillows, you should look for colors and patterns that will add joy and energy to your interior and avoid shades that can appear dull and sad.

4. TRONES shoe rack

Keeping your foyer or entryway tidy can be a nightmare if you don’t have furniture to organize them. Elliott is of the opinion that when organizing space, you should look for better and more functional solutions that will make your life easier and at the same time add aesthetic value to your interior. “It’s made of plastic, so you have to mount it on the wall,” she stated. Finally in video she added that not everything that is popular is also practical.

5. HEMNES table

The number of workers who work exclusively from home has fallen in previous years, largely due to the pandemic. Many are therefore trying to set up a high-quality home workplace. However, as Elliott pointed out, when furnishing the work environment, you should pay attention to the quality and durability of the furniture in order to avoid disappointment with inappropriate or low-quality products. She also considers the Hemnes table as such, which, according to her, is too unstable.
