(Adnkronos) – McLaren double in the sprint race of the Brazilian GP. On the Interlagos circuit the Englishman Lando Norris wins ahead of the Australian Oscar Piastri thanks to the strategy decided by the team, which effectively ‘chooses’ the winner. Completing the podium is the world leader, the Dutch Red Bull Max Verstappen who leaves behind the two Ferraris of the Monegasque Charles Leclerc and the Spaniard Carlos Sainz. Sixth place for the Englishman from Mercedes George Russell, followed by the Frenchman from Alpine Pierre Gasly and the Mexican from Red Bull Sergio Perez. Verstappen risks a 5″ penalty for breaking the delta time in an attempt to overtake Piastri under the Virtual Safety Car. If he were penalized he would lose his position over Leclerc and finish in 4th place. Verstappen still leads the world championship standings with 368 points, 45 ahead of Norris (323) and 72 over Leclerc “I’m not very proud of the victory in this sprint. I have to thank Oscar, we did a good team job, this is the result we wanted. It deserved the Oscar win, but we did what we had to do. I thank him and the team”, says Norris. “We have a great pace: I’m optimistic in view of qualifying and tomorrow’s GP. Overtaking Oscar on the track? It was tough, there was a yo-yo effect. The dirty air slowed me down. I felt faster, but at that moment I couldn’t pass.
