[Reuters]- The men’s tennis Masters Paris singles semi-final was held in Paris on the 2nd, with third seed Alexander Zverev of Germany advancing to the final.
Zverev defeated former champion and 13th seed Holger René of Denmark 6-3, 7-6. He advanced to the finals of the tournament for the first time in four years.
Zverev said: “I was a little hard on myself, but he (Rene) is a champion. This is probably his favorite tournament, his favorite court, and to be able to reach the final for the second time here… I’m happy. I’m looking forward to it.”
Zverev has surpassed Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz to move into second place in the latest world rankings.
In the other match, 15th seed Hugo Humbert of France came from behind to beat 2018 champion Karen Khachanov from Russia 6-7, 6-4, 6-3.
