Paris Masters 1,000 2024 | Humbert’s gestures that have outraged part of tennis: Khachanov later reproached him

Ugo Humbert extended his extraordinary week with a laborious victory in three sets, 6-7 (6), 6-4 and 6-3, against the Russian Karen Khachanov that made him the first French finalist in the Paris Masters 1000 since Jo Wilfried Tsonga in 2011.

The tennis player from Metz, champion this year in Dubai and Marseille, with six titles in his history, already has his revenge. He will play the final against the German Alexander Zverevwith whom he lost, on this same stage, in this same competition, last year.

The moment of controversy: Khachanov’s injury in the third set

The Russian had to be attended to by the medical services due to a problem in the right thigh area. This physical problem ended up weighing heavily on Khachanov, who was unable to play properly in the last games of the match.

From that moment of the beginning of the third set of the clash, and despite the more than apparent physical problems of KhachanovUgo Humbert grew up with his audience and made some gestures that his opponent did not like.

After the end of the match, online, Khachanov reproached Humbert for those types of gestures with a “no class”, which translates as “no class”.

I would congratulate him if he behaved like a normal person

In a post-match press conference for ‘Ziggo Sport’, Khachanov revealed that he told him that “I would congratulate him if he behaved like a normal person“, in reference to those gestures of the French tennis player that the Russian did not like.
