Max Verstappen wants to limit the damage in the World Cup standings at the Brazilian Grand Prix on Sunday. On the day of the main race, which has been brought forward to 4:30 PM, qualifying will also be held (12:30 PM). It was postponed on Saturday due to severe weather in São Paulo, where the circuit was flooded due to heavy rain.

Verstappen starts the race in South America with a grid penalty of five places. This means that he must add five places to his qualifying result. The Red Bull driver received that punishment because he has a new engine.

Verstappen did not have a very successful weekend so far. In the only free practice on Friday he finished fifteenth and in the sprint race he was dropped from third to fourth place.

The race was initially scheduled for 6 p.m. Dutch time, but now starts an hour and a half earlier. Verstappen starts the race with a 44-point lead over competitor Lando Norris of McLaren.

Last year Verstappen won both the sprint race and the main race in São Paulo.
