After three successes in a row in the EuroLeague (Monaco, Berlin, Baskonia), our back speaks on the importance and difficulty of these Betclic ELITE matches before the reception of Nancy this Sunday at the adidas arena (7 p.m.).
Yakuba, how are you preparing for this championship match against Nancy two days after the victory against Baskonia?
“For us, it’s a very important match. We try to take everything in its time because the meetings come together really quickly. I think it’s a tough team that we need to be wary of. Of course, they are young but they do not lack talent. Above all, we must not look down on them. We will arrive having already played two matches this week, we will have to be very concentrated and provide the necessary efforts to win this match. We don’t expect an easy meeting.
Now that the season is well underway, how are you managing the sequence of matches?
Everyone is very professional! The technical staff imposes good working times on us but also good rest times, which is very important given our style of play which requires a lot of energy. We need to recharge our batteries and the staff understands that. Behind, I also see that each guy is professional and knows what he needs, if he has to work extra, he will come to work, if he needs extra care… It’s a very autonomous group.
You will return to the adidas arena for a few matches. That must be nice, right?
Yes, it feels great to be able to come home! Being in the Parisian environment and in the atmosphere of the adidas arena with our audience who will push us, it will give us a lot of energy and a lot of strength. These are the perfect conditions for us! »
