Mladá Boleslav opened the scoring midway through the opening half thanks to Dominik Beneš. Aapo Kilpelainen answered immediately, Jan Zoufalý restored the home team’s lead and Mikko Laakso answered in the 19th minute. At the beginning of the second half, the Central Bohemians first defended themselves when Hemerk was sent off, and immediately Michal Sládek put them in the lead again.
Joona Rantala took care of the third equalizer, but in the 33rd to 35th minute, Mladá Boleslav got a two-goal advantage thanks to Finnish Iiro Lankinen and Patrik Suchánek. In the third period, they increased the score with Hemerka and two Delong hits. The team from Nokia went for a long game without a goalkeeper and the result was corrected by Laakso and Juuso Ahola.
“It was a hugely difficult match, as we expected. The Finns have great quality, especially in possession. We prepared for them to play attacking floorball. We defended excellently, goalkeeper Lukáš Bauer caught us. The pace of the match was excellent, it could be compared to the national team matches,” defender Hemerka told the club’s website.
“The whole team worked hard, we didn’t leave anything for free on the field and we got the first point in the series. We know that we can play with Nokian, it was an even match and we have to carry that into the return game, we have to play with confidence. I believe that we will win or at least draw and advance to the finals,” added Hemerka.
