Jesper Fredberg has been fired from RSC Anderlecht. The CEO Sports was judged by a poorer summer mercato. Eddy Vandaele left the Purple & White a while earlier for KV Kortrijk and spoke candidly with The Newspaper over Anderlecht.
Vandaele is a scout and worked with Fredberg and Peter Verbeke at RSC Anderlecht. He is now at KV Kortrijk, but that does not stop him from opening his book about Fredberg’s working method at Anderlecht.
Stubborn
According to Vandaele, Fredberg was a stubborn person who never listened to Anderlecht’s scouts. He only wanted to bring in players from his Danish network, a strong revelation. “You can say what you want about Peter Verbeke, but I worked very well with him. But since Fredberg took over… He spoke to us once in six months, when Mauve TV was in his office. He never listened to the scouts and chose players from his Danish network.”
Vandaele also did not hold back about Wouter Vandenhaute. Anderlecht’s supporters want the policymaker out after the appointment of Olivier Renard (ex-Standard) as sporting director. “Vandenhaute? I often crossed paths with him in the hallway without him addressing me. The DNA of the club is disappearing. Anderlecht is fortunate to have Coucke. After six months of ‘working’ under Fredberg, I preferred to leave before they kicked me out like all the other former players at the club. I am very happy in Kortrijk.”
Mess
It seems to be a mess at RSC Anderlecht. Earlier in the season, head coach Brian Riemer was fired, but the train is not picking up steam under David Hubert either. Behind the scenes there is now a palace revolution going on with Renard as the new sporting director.
