MLB: Daulton Varsho wins a gold glove

Toronto Blue Jays center fielder Daulton Varsho won the American League Gold Glove, it was announced Sunday.

Varsho, 28, was brilliant all season in his second campaign with the Blue Jays, and his 29 total defensive runs recorded, according to FanGraphs, were by far the best among any defensive player in Major League Baseball.

Varsho made 76 starts in center field and 46 in left, adding another start in right field.

He made two errors in 327 chances for a .994 defensive percentage and added five assists.

This is the second consecutive year that a Blue Jays outfielder has won a Gold Glove, following Kevin Kiermaier in 2023.
