SK Rapid captain Matthias Seidl: “The top league, like the German Bundesliga, would be my goal” – Bundesliga

He has been captain of the record champions since this season SK Rapid and is completing a truly mammoth program in these weeks: Matthias Seidl. The Eurofighters from Hütteldorf not only currently have to cope with seven national and international games within three weeks, but Ralf Rangnick will probably be there again ÖFB teamsquad for the two Nations League players should be appointed in November. The 23-year-old, native of Salzburg, was previously a guest at the on Sunday evening Sky show “Talk & Goals”.

Captain’s duel! Matthias Seidl (l.), SK Rapid, here a week ago against Marco Perchtold from GAK 1902, who is 13 years older.

“In general, I’m also interested in Blau Weiß Linz because they are a very exciting team.”

Matthias Seidl (SK Rapid) about…

the past week: “It is important that we process the result after the games and not hang on to the game for too long, especially when we have English weeks. You have to focus on the next game straight away. We managed it quite well. We performed well in the first half against Sturm Graz and were in control of the game. After the exclusion it became a little more difficult with one less man. Ultimately we can be happy with the 1-1 result.”

the connection to Simon Seidl and FC Blau Weiß Linz: “It’s my brother and my former club. I like to look there, even in the stadium if possible. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work out that often because it often overlaps. I really like looking at their feet. Then I can see how the opponent is playing. I’m also interested in how he’s doing and how he’s developing. In general, I’m also interested in Blau Weiß Linz because they are a very exciting team.”

“You train for goals like this and games with incredible atmosphere and rivalry”

his goals in Vienna derbies: “You train for goals like this and games with incredible atmosphere and rivalry. If you can help the team with goals, it’s even better. But the important thing is that we won the last derby.”

his role as Rapid captain: “It was perhaps a bit surprising. I later joined the team through the European Championships. At the first training session, the trainer came to me and discussed the topic. Of course, I was very happy that I could take on responsibility at this club.

Of course it gave me a little extra motivation. So far it’s gone quite well. As a guy, you shouldn’t change much just when you wear the bow. You should concentrate on your game and still pull the team along. I like the job and it’s a good fit.”

Matthias Seidl quickly accepted the captaincy and leadership role at Panikklub Rapid and is taking on responsibility. On top of that, the 23-year-old offensive player is also a long-time favorite for the Hütteldorfers, playing all 23 competitive games this season – across all competitions – and contributing three goals and six assists.

“I started playing adult football in Kuchl when I was 16 and played at home for four years.”

his career: “I don’t think back that often. If you think back, it’s a cool progression. I started playing adult football in Kuchl when I was 16 and played at home for four years. It was really cool, the family wasn’t far away and everyone could always watch. We rose together.

I also played in Kuchl with my two brothers. It was a really cool time. With the promotion to the third division, professional football has become a little closer. Blau Weiß Linz became aware of me through good performance. Looking back, I think it was a great first step in professional football.”

its position and possible potential for improvement: “I think I’m at home in the attacking midfield. This season with two tens it’s a bit more variable as you can go out and in. I think eight or ten suits me best. If you look at the statistics, one goal and one assist in twelve games isn’t that much as an offensive player.

I can certainly develop further there. I have to make sure that I get into scoring situations more often and use my teammates even better so that we can celebrate even more successes as a team.”

his goals: “You always set goals. You can never set your goals too high. You should always have high goals that you do everything you can to achieve them. When you reach a goal, you might switch off and then things go downhill again. The hardest thing in football is to stay at the top and continue to develop.

Rapid is a great level where you can develop well and a great club in Austria. There are more good clubs out there. A top league like the German Bundesliga would be a goal of mine. I feel very comfortable at Rapid right now and want to achieve the highest possible results. But I wouldn’t mind playing in a top league at some point.”

“When you have six points after two matchdays, you always want to achieve the highest possible”

…die Conference League: “Overwintering is a first partial goal. You can then see where you are and what opponent you are facing. I think a lot is possible this season.

When you have six points after two matchdays, you always want to achieve the highest possible. But there are still four games to go. We know that a lot is possible.”

…die National team: “We have a great team. You can get along really well with everyone and have fun.”
