The Indonesian National Futsal Team started the 2024 AFF Cup with a landslide 9-0 victory over Cambodia in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand on Monday (4/11/2024).
The match started with high aggressiveness from Indonesia. The first goal was scored by M. Iqbal in just one minute after capitalizing on a Cambodian mistake.
Not long after that, Firman doubled the lead with a volley. Setha Sachaboth and Samuel Eko followed with goals in the third and fifth minutes.
Iqbal scored another goal in the 10th minute, increasing his tally to two. Five minutes later, Brian, who came on as a substitute, increased the score to 6-0. Towards the end of the first half, Guntur closed the score to 7-0.
Entering the second half, even though Cambodia tried to get back up, Indonesia still dominated the game. Goals from Syaifullah in the 31st minute and Nizar in the 35th minute increased the lead to 9-0, ending the match with a satisfying result.
This victory not only brought Indonesia to the top of the Group B standings with three points, but also gave additional enthusiasm to play against Australia on Tuesday (5/11/2024) at 13.00 WIB.
“This is a good start and important capital for this tournament, and we will continue to work hard for the next matches,” said Hector Souto, skipper of the Indonesian National Futsal Team, as reported by Between.
