Roy Keane, who is a pundit for Sky Sports, responded to this comment. The former MU captain considered Fernandes’ attitude inappropriate.
“Interviews like this always feel awkward for players, but I don’t have much time and patience if players say the words ‘listen, sorry, we let you down’. Too little, too late,” said Keane, reported by the Mirror.
“We will assess what you do on the football pitch. I don’t think Bruno has done enough in many games. He hasn’t shown his leadership. So it will be interesting to hear what Ten Hag has to say about that. But you also have to move on.” he continued.
MU fired Erik ten Hag, and has now replaced him with Ruben Amorim. Keane quipped that usually players would immediately seek safety from the next manager.
“A lot of players don’t really care when a manager leaves. They just focus on the next manager, looking after themselves. Players can be selfish, we know, really. But in my opinion, Bruno hasn’t done enough as Man United captain for a year or so. the last two years to help the manager Far from it.
“The proof is in all the results. It’s not just Bruno, but I don’t think he showed enough leadership skills when the going got tough, with some of his performances. I think Bruno Fernandes there was no need to be too proud of himself, for what had happened to his manager in the last week or two. “I think the players ultimately let the manager down,” said Keane.
