An air of déjà vu. During the 11th day of Nationale 1, Tuesday November 5Pays de Fougères basketball will receive Levallois. An old acquaintance.
The two teams have faced each other in recent years in Nationale 2. Especially last season with a mano a mano at the top of the rankings.
Ferns had beaten the Ile-de-France residents three times: two in the championship and one in the semi-final of the Coupe de France Trophy. There is no doubt that Levallois Metropolitans will want to erase these setbacks by coming to win at Justy-Specker.
Mathieu Lemercier, coach of Blues Brothersbelieves that “the context is different even if basketball remains the same. We know each other well because we have often faced each other and that always results in great fights. I hope it will be a good fight again tomorrow and that it will fall on our side.
“A hell of a duel”
Especially since Franck Le Goff‘s players are doing well at the start of the season with seven wins for three losses and a place of dauphin in the ranking.
Today is a good start to the season. They are having a very good start to the season. I have a lot of respect for my colleague Franck Le Goff and the work that is done in Levallois. On their squad, they have managed to retain their major players who have been there for years (Thalien, Balayera, Stansbury). On the other hand, they also managed to part ways with two players who were still under contract and, with the rise to Nationale 1, who no longer corresponded to the division and what they wanted to do (Mormin and Brice), which gave them made it possible to recruit particularly in the domestic sector (Nelson and Clerence).
It’s clear that this is going to be one hell of a duel. I think it will be a great challenge for us following the two matches we have just won. Levallois is a big team which is making a good start to the championship.
Last week, Country of Fougères basketball ended a streak of four consecutive losses by winning against Les Sables-d’Olonne (75-64), then at France pole (79-63), Friday November 1st.
We were serious once again defensively from start to finish of the match. Where I am happy is that in the second half, we found our identity, our DNA, particularly in the passing game. We make twenty assists for thirteen lost balls. From an accounting standpoint, it’s a two-win week.
A FernsJules Gibey, victim of a sprained ankle, will not play against Levallois and “probably not this week,” slips his coach.
We’ll see after next week. We will have one match left before the one-week break and the end of the first legs.
After this meeting at Justy-Specker, the Blues Brothers will continue again Friday November 8 with their longest trip of the season to Tarbes-Lourdes (Hautes-Pyrénées).
