The PlayStation 5 Pro is in the starting blocks, starting on November 7th. We have already shared information about power consumption and cooling, and there is also information about the equipment. The tech portal Digital Foundry has now gained access to the official PS5 Pro manual and is sharing initial specifications with the gaming community.
At the heart of the hardware equipment is an AMD Ryzen processor with the Zen 2 architecture. This chip has eight computing cores with a total of 16 threads, enabling efficient parallel processing of tasks. The graphics unit is based on AMD’s RDNA architecture and achieves a computing power of 16.7 teraflops. In direct comparison to the standard PS5, which achieves 10.23 teraflops, this represents a significant increase in performance.
These technical data indicate a noticeably increased graphics performance. The additional computing power could be particularly noticeable in graphics-intensive games and higher refresh rates. The improved hardware base gives developers new opportunities to optimize their games.
Sony has now revealed additional titles that will receive extra PS5 Pro improvements. Of course, that’s not all, more are to follow. Additionally, some PS5 games that don’t receive the full PS5 Pro Enhanced designation may still contain notable improvements through title updates. Astro Bot and Helldivers 2 are just a few examples of such titles.
