Selected at the very end of the draft last June, young pivot Ariel Hukporti managed to find a small place in the Knicks‘ interior rotation. He has just won a standard contract while he was in two-way.
It’s a nice little story that’s currently being written in New York.
While the Knicks are still deprived of the Mitchell Robinson – Precious Achiuwa duo and they have a limited rotation in the pivot position (behind Karl-Anthony Towns), a 22-year-old young man – who came out of nowhere – is shows through his contribution to rebounding and blocking. This young man is Ariel Hukporti, a German-Togolese national who passed through Ludwigsburg (Germany) and Melbourne (Australia).
According to insider Shams Charania (ESPN), he has just won a real two-year NBA contract, with a team option on the second. He is therefore officially on the roster of New York’s 15 players. A great achievement for him!
The New York Knicks and two-way center Ariel Hukporti have agreed on a standard two-year NBA contract, sources tell ESPN. The new deal for Hukporti includes a team option in 2025-26 season. The 7-footer out of Germany has served as a viable big man in Knicks frontcourt. pic.twitter.com/0EQGoqp4Zx

Hukporti has made four appearances in five games this season for the Knicks, averaging 7.3 minutes of play. He averages one block per game and almost two rebounds.
For the record, know that Ariel Hukporti was traded to the Knicks by the Mavericks on the day of the Draft, for a certain Melvin Ajinça (French player selected in 51st position by New York).
