Lara will host the South American U-15 Women’s Basketball Championship

The state of Lara once again becomes the national epicenter of sport when it was chosen as the headquarters of the South American U-15 Women’s Basketball Championship. This event will feature the participation of teams from Colombia, Chile, Bolivia, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina and Ecuador, who will compete from November 6 to 10, at the Bolivarian Dome.

The governor of Lara, Adolfo Pereira, accompanied by the Commander of the Zodi-Lara, division general, Hibrahim Ricardo Sirgo, the mayor of Iribarren, Luis Jonás Reyes, and the president of the Venezuelan Basketball Federation (FVB), ​​Hanthony Coello , presented the event to the press. Pereira highlighted that “once again the state of Lara is at the forefront of sports and its city Barquisimeto will host 8 international teams for what will be the basketball festival. We thank the FVB for choosing us as the venue, since Lara stands out for maintaining good conditions in its sports infrastructure.”

The Bolivarian Dome, rehabilitated in 2022, is completely equipped for this and other sporting events. Pereira added that “apart from the climate, the people, the gastronomy and tourism are aspects that highlight the entity.” From the Iribarren municipality, Mayor Luis Jonás Reyes expressed his pride in the Venezuelan team, mentioning that three of the 12 members belong to his territory, coming from school and municipal games.

In this way, the president of the FVB, Hanthony Coello, highlighted the preparation of the national team: “we have spent more than 60 days of preparation and concentration to leave our country high. After this championship, we are heading to the American FIBA ​​and we thank the Lara state for being a vanguard in sports and hosting basketball games for the second time.”

Josymar Corrales, athlete of the Venezuelan team, expressed his pride in the sports infrastructure of Lara and thanked Governor Adolfo Pereira and the Bolivarian government for their attention. The arrival of the delegations from Colombia, Chile, Bolivia, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina and Ecuador is expected this week, reported the president of the federation.
