Lewis Hamilton struggled with this year’s São Paulo Grand Prix. The only thing that made him happy was a demonstration drive in Ayrton Senna‘s historic car.
Lewis Hamilton is in his twelfth and final season with Mercedes before moving to Ferrari. However, the conclusion of a highly successful engagement in the German team does not turn out the way he would have liked for the British competitor.
While the seven-time champion took two wins before the summer break, he hasn’t looked on the podium in seven races since its end.
Hamilton’s troubles continued during the past weekend at Interlagos, from which, after a big fight with the car, the winner of 105 grand prix took a single point for tenth place in Sunday’s main race. All this in the context of his team-mate George Russell finishing the race in fourth place after also being hampered by a grand prix interruption shortly before the halfway point.
“The race wasn’t worth it, but driving the Senna car was the best (pre-race demonstration drive) I’ve ever had, so I’m happy and grateful for the experience,” Hamilton said after the race, as quoted by RacinNews365.
However, the Briton did not want to comment on the current Mercedes W15 car.
“Let’s not talk about the car because it’s bad. Saturday (when the sprint was scheduled) was terrible, and so was Sunday. The car was bad all weekend,” declared the driver, who is waiting for the last three races with Mercedes.
However, it follows from his words that he is not looking forward to them, given the current form of his monopoly. When asked if he would like this season to end soon, he answered:
“Her end cannot come soon enough.”
