According to information from the NBA, the San Antonio Spurs have to ESPN without their coach Gregg Popovich for an indefinite period of time.
The 75-year-old had already missed the Spurs’ game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday for health reasons. Now the cult coach will also be missing from the upcoming games.
On an interim basis, Popovich’s assistant Mitch Johnson will look after the team in the games against the Los Angeles Clippers and the Houston Rockets.
Popovich with a long list of successes
Popovich has coached the Spurs since 1996 and led them to five NBA titles. Popovich won the NBA Coach of the Year award three times. At the 2020 Summer Olympics, the United States won the gold medal with him as national coach.
