Rocks and baseball bats flew in the abandoned 9,000-square-meter warehouse. Seven people ended up with fractures and open wounds in hospital, the others were treated at the scene. The violence was interrupted by the intervention of the gendarmerie.
“The participants settled right next to the nomadic camp. The first skirmishes took place on Saturday around 20:00, then it degenerated and many were injured. The gendarmes intervened to prevent an even greater number of victims,” said the commander of the intervention, Julien Valdenaire.
The organizers stopped playing the music already at night, but that did not stop the violence. The battle required the intervention of 120 firefighters and hundreds of gendarmes. Calm was only restored around six o’clock in the morning.
The party was not legal, as the prefecture of the department of Ille-et-Vilaine, under which the site falls, banned music parties for the entire weekend by decree last week.
