A Chicago Bulls jersey that Michael Jordan wore in the 1996-1997 season reached $4.7 million at auction, Sotheby’s reported this Monday.
Those responsible for the bidding detailed that Jordan wore that shirt in at least 17 games and that the piece had remained in private hands since the team sold it.
In the same auction, another Jordan jersey for the Bulls from the 1988-1989 campaign reached 1.1 million.
Also made available to buyers was the US flag with which Jordan, at the Olympic gold ceremony in Barcelona 1992, covered the Reebok logo on his shirt given his association with Nike.
That flag, with the signatures of the ‘Dream Team’ players, reached 1.8 million.
In total, the objects from the ‘Colossal – The Ultimate Jordan Collection’ collection at Sotheby’s reached 8.5 million.
