Fifth defeat in the seventh game: Alba Berlin also loses in Bamberg and complains of a serious injury

Alba Berlin has suffered its next defeat in the Basketball Bundesliga and is surprisingly still languishing in the bottom of the table after its fourth defeat in the sixth game. Alba lost 82:87 (34:39) at Bamberg Baskets on Sunday in front of 5,117 spectators. The best Berlin throwers were Martin Hermannsson with 28 and Louis Olinde with 15 points.

Coach Israel Gonzalez was again able to rely on homegrown players Malte Delow (concussion) and Jonas Mattisseck (back), who had recently been sidelined with injuries. But the Berliners found it difficult to get into the game. A lot of shots were missed and there was no rhythm three days after the Euroleague defeat against Anadolu Efes. But since Bamberg also had problems, the game remained even.

In the second quarter, the hosts improved offensively, while Alba continued to miss too much – especially beyond the three-point line. After a brief 22:20 lead, the game tipped over and the guests were now behind. At times it was six points (31:37). But Alba kept at it.

After the break, the game became more heated, and the Berliners even briefly took the lead again in the middle of the third quarter (46:45). But Alba couldn’t use this momentum either and missed too many free throws. So Bamberg hit back and Alba fell behind again. And they couldn’t turn it around until the end.

But the defeat wasn’t the only thing that spoiled the Berliners’ mood that evening. After the end of the game it was announced that power forward Justin Bean had broken his wrist during the game and was expected to be out for three months.
