Cléopatre Darleux is not on the Blue list to prepare for the Euro

French goalkeeper Cléopatre Darleux was not selected by the new coach of the French women’s handball team Sébastien Gardillou in his list to prepare for the Euro.

Goalkeeper Cléopâtre Darleux is absent from the group of 21 players selected Tuesday by the coach of the French handball team Sébastien Gardillou to prepare for the Euro (November 28-December 15 in Switzerland, Austria and Hungary). The 2021 Olympic champion, aged 35, played a match at the Paris Olympics when she was called up as a reserve. At the end of September, she signed with Metz for a season, probably the last of her career, displaying good performances until then.

Gardillou, who replaced the emblematic Olivier Krumbholz in September, retained four goalkeepers including Catherine Gabriel, called up for the first time since the 2021 Olympics when she was a reservist. The doorwoman from Debrecen (Hungary) was also preferred to Camille Sinceet and will accompany the trio composed of Laura Glauser, Hatadou Sako and Floriane André.

The Blues will face Spain in friendly matches in Saint-Chamond (Loire) on November 22 then Angola two days later, to prepare for their Euro which will begin on November 28 in Basel against Poland. Gardillou will be able to take a maximum of 20 players to the Euro and will have to choose 16 on each match sheet.
