Partenope becomes a civic community space”

A real call to social participation, aimed at young people aged 14 to 34. It’s what it comes to Partenope sports club, thanks to the start of the project Sport is Support”.

A civic space of community which includes numerous free activities and the opportunity of a concrete space to welcome young people, enhance their resources, answer their questions, support them in their path to achievement, strengthening the educational values ​​of sport, loyalty and mutual respect .

A space for personal and collective growth, which began operations in Naples on 1 October 2024, will last two years and will be open to anyone who wants to register. The lead company of the project is AP Partenope Rugby Club Junior and working in synergy as partners of the project will be the associations Polisportiva Partenope and Cooperativa sociale NuReCo.

AP Partenope Rugby Club Junior was awarded the financing put out to tender by Sport e Salute SpA and promoted by Minister for Sport and Youth, Andrea Abodi, through the Department for Youth Policies and the Universal Civil Service of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers for the launch of this Community Civic Space, which will have its headquarters in the city at the Polisportiva Partenope, in the historic headquarters of Bronze Horses where sporting and non-sporting and social activities will be offered free of charge to young people, promoting youth protagonism and thanks to individual and collective empowerment processes within a broader perspective of social inclusion.

These associations will be joined by the commitment of many volunteers and professionals to create a program of activities which, in addition to leisure and entertainment, aims directly at the ambitious objective of social growth of the entire community, driven by the driving force of young people. The proposed sporting activities will be gymnastics, judo, rugby, postural gymnastics and pilates. Extra-sports activities will instead be courses sports journalism, ancient Neapolitan Games workshops, seminars on nutrition, federal courses for referees and coaches. All participants will be able to take advantage of a psychological support program.

Paola Gelormini, president of AP Partenope Rugby Junior, underlines: “These civic spaces are a precious opportunity for the young people of our community and in general of the whole city.

Through sport and teamwork, we want to promote values ​​such as loyalty, respect and social responsibility, helping kids to grow and become active protagonists of their own future.”

The initiative will be presented on Friday 8 November, at 10.30 am, at the headquarters of the Partenope sports club, in via Riccardo Filangieri of Candida Gonzaga. The press conference will be attended by Alessandro Gelormini, president of AP Partenope; Maria Caniglia, president of the IV Municipality; Colonel Maltese, Southern Operational Forces Command; Francesca Merenda, Regional Sports and Health coordinator; Clara Sartini, NuReCo social cooperative; Aldo Barbi, director of the Partenope Sports Association; Giuseppe Calicchio, FIR regional president.

«The “Community civic spaces” project is developed throughout Italy by the Minister for Sport and Youth Andrea Abodi, by the Department for youth policies and universal civil service of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers in collaboration with us – explains the President of Sport and Health Marco Mezzaroma -. It not only has the objective of creating aggregation hubs for young people in the area with a program of sporting, educational and social activities, which is capable of activate and enhance youth talents, but also that of building new opportunities and experiences of active citizenship through sport, giving life to initiatives of creative and artistic expression that are representative of the youth cultures of the territories. Furthermore, through these “Civic Spaces” – continues President Mezzaroma – we want to promote an active lifestyle and strengthen the educational values ​​of sport in young people, such as team spirit, continuous commitment, loyalty and mutual respect, as well as raising awareness among sports associations to create or strengthen networks and educational facilities for young people in the area, in an inclusive and sustainable perspective”.
