Real Madrid humiliated by AC Milan
An evening to forget. After its defeat 10 days ago in the Clasico against Barça (0-4), Real Madrid experienced another disappointment at home. The crisis is brewing within the biggest club in the world. In a more than contested game, the Madrilenians were caught cold by the opening score of Malick Thiaw (12th) who took a corner at the near post. Real decides to wake up first with Mbappé then Vinicius but the two players come across a huge Mike Maignan. In the end, the Brazilian found the solution from the penalty spot (23rd) and put his team back in the match.
But AC Milan is full of resources, and in particular Alvaro Morata, who passed through… Real Madrid, who gives the advantage to Rossoneri before half-time (39th). Reijnders confirms the collective sinking of the Madrilenians in the second half by concluding a superb action carried out with Leao (73rd). Rüdiger saw his 2-3 goal refused, and Real Madrid concluded the match booed after having now conceded 9 goals in the last three matches, all at the Bernabéu. Tough period for the last winners of the C1.
Monaco, the Dolce Vita in Bologna
It was the shot not to be missed. AS Monaco struggled but triumphed in their match in Bologna (0-1). A victory which should be enough to validate the place of play-off for Adi Hütter’s men.
Without Denis Zakaria, injured, it was the vice-captain, Thilo Kehrer, who led his partners to victory thanks to a goal in the last ten minutes, from a corner (86th). Each of the two teams had the opportunity to take the advantage in the score but each time, the goals were refused. Thanks to this third victory in four matches, Monaco moves into third place in the standings while awaiting the other matches on Wednesday.
Manchester City brought down by the Swedish Viking
The evening turned into a nightmare for Manchester City. After a quick goal from Foden (5th), the Citizens quickly became disillusioned during the meeting because of a certain Viktor Gyokeres. The Swede equalized for his team before half-time (38th) to everyone’s surprise.
From the start of the second period, Sporting felt its wings growing and scored two goals in three minutes to suffocate the Skyblues with Araujo (46th) and a first penalty from Gyokeres (49th). Erling Haaland will try to reduce the score from the penalty spot but sends a missile onto the Sporting crossbar (69th). His Scandinavian counterpart will, for his part, confirm the victory of the Lusitanian team in the 80th minute with a new penalty (4-1). Sporting puts an end to the invincibility series of Manchester City who had just obtained the record during the previous day against Sparta Prague (26 matches).
Liverpool continue their success against Leverkusen
It all came down to the second half at Anfield between the Reds and Leverkusen. Arne Slot’s players extend the honeymoon period with their new Dutch coach by winning largely against the reigning German champions (4-0). Liverpool supporters can say a big thank you to Luis Diaz, author of a hat-trick (61st, 83rd, 92nd), and to Cody Gakpo (63rd) author of the second goal of the match. The attackers wandered around an apathetic Leverkusen defense which did not have the weapons to respond to an English team in great form. For the moment, Liverpool are the only team to have won all of their C1 matches this season.
In other matches, Borussia Dortmund beat Sturm Graz 1-0 thanks to a late goal from Donyell Malen, while Celtic Glasgow dominated RB Leipzig 3 goals to 1.
