64-year-old player dies after amateur football match

This Sunday, a drama took place during the meeting between the veterans of the Moncé-en-Belin club (Sarthe) and those of Guécélard, report our colleagues from France Bleu. Indeed, a member of ES Moncé died a few minutes after the final whistle. More than just a player, Alain Gouffier was an emblematic figure of the club where he had played for twenty-five years.

While he had played the last quarter of an hour of the match, Alain Gouffier, aged 64, collapsed at the end of the match, on the stairs of the stadium. It was a heart attack that struck the sixty-year-old. Despite the rapid intervention of emergency services, resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful.

Licensed for fifty years

A great football fan, Alain Gouffier has spent his life on the pitch. Player, referee or even coach, football no longer held any secrets for him. Licensed as a footballer for more than fifty years, he was appreciated by the amateur world. His death also caused strong emotion well beyond his club. Its president claims to have received hundreds of messages of support.

The man who had a career at the Renault Le Mans factory had retired since 2020. He devoted his free time to training the 140 children of the club every Wednesday afternoon. The latter, as well as all those who wish to bid him a final farewell, are invited to his funeral scheduled for November 12 at 2 p.m. in Ruaudin.
