It all started from a furious reaction of Joel Embiid to an article by Marcus Hayes which cited the center’s dead son and brother, both with the name Arthur. “Joel Embiid continually references the birth of his son Arthur as the turning point in his basketball career. He often says he wants to be grown up to leave a legacy for the child named after his younger brother, who tragically died in a car accident when Embiid was in his first year with the Sixers“, the offending excerpt from the piece Hayesvery critical of Embiid for showing up overweight at training camp and therefore being judged unprofessional.
