In recent years, the judo club has grown in importance, notably thanks to the presence and experience of Jean Delonca.
Jean, aged 31, is only 1.73 m tall and competes in the under 90 kg category. Trained at Judo Rodez Aveyron, he quickly became passionate about judo and abandoned rugby.
After his baccalaureate, he went to Paris to get his diploma in order to teach judo at Creps de Châtenay-Malabry.
To study nursing, he went to Belgium for three years without forgetting his judogi to train and fight on the Belgian and Luxembourg tatami mats.
On his return to France, he settled in Montpellier, resumed his studies in IT and completed his master’s degree.
In 2019, Jean Delonca joined the Villeneuve-lès-Béziers judo club but Covid stopped the activity. From September 2021, the club is evolving in a positive way. Participating in summer camps or departmental training, he has continued to be a source of suggestions for the development of the club on the sporting side.
For the first time since its creation in 2016, the club reached 100 licensees in 2022. Today, the small club has become the Alliance Judo Bassin Biterrois with the dojos of Sauvian and Thézan-lès-Béziers.
In addition to being an excellent teacher, Jean Delonca is also an excellent competitor. Qualified several times for the French 1st division championships, he was winner of the Barcelona tournament in 2019, champion of France 1st university division…
