David Ferrer is one of the players closest to Rafael Nadal.
The Spaniard, who is currently captain of the Davis Cup, which is played after the Masters, spoke about his friend’s retirement in an interview with “Marca”:
“I didn’t cry when I retired from tennis, but maybe I can’t hold back for Rafa.
Let’s see, I’m very excited that things are going well for Rafa, as a friend.
I would be very excited if it had a happy ending.
What does it mean to win?
Well, it’s a victory, but not for me, but for everything he deserves for everything he has achieved.
The problem is that this is something you cannot control.
What happens in Malaga will not change his life or his career.
But on a personal level, I would like him to go home from tennis with a good taste in his mouth.”
