NBA, the push for the journalist costs Joel Embiid a lot

Delicate moment for the Philadelphia All Star

To date, Joel Embiid has not yet played a single game in the new NBA season. Thanks to some knee problems (finally resolved) and an altercation with a journalist which, in the end, cost him a three-game suspension by the NBA.

After the match against Memphis, Joel Embiid discussed with a journalist from a local Philadelphia media, guilty of accusing the 76ers center of unprofessionalism and bringing up family issues. The discussion became increasingly heated with Joel Embiid who arrived to push the journalist.

The NBA intervened promptly, stopping the Philadelphia All Star for three games. In fact, Joel Embiid will not take the field until the game, scheduled for next Tuesday night, against the New York Knicks.

Specifically, he will be forced to miss the games against the LA Clippers and LA Lakers, both scheduled in Los Angeles, and the one, within friendly walls, against Charlotte. The suspension will also cost dearly on an economic level. In fact, Joel Embiid, as per the regulation, will have to give up around a million dollars of his seasonal salary. Clearly, the 76ers board is far from happy. Without Joel Embiid’s contribution, the team is struggling (1-5 franchise record in this delicate start to the regular season).
