How are American Olympic players experiencing the election?

Kamala Harris or Donald Trump? Millions of Americans have already voted or will vote for their next president. Those living abroad had the opportunity to do so by correspondence. This is the case of the three Friborg Olympic players: Ross Williams, Eric Nottage and Mezie Offurum.

“There were people who crawled so that we could walk and have the privilege of voting,” says Ross Williams, very concerned when talking about the presidential election. The Californian spends most of his time in Switzerland. He only returns to the United States during the summer, but he often contacts his relatives to find out about the situation.

This is also the case for Eric Nottage: “I talk about it with my family, because it is a very important moment for our country. We need a good president, a president who will work for his people .” Mezie Offurum admits that he doesn’t really talk about politics with those close to him: “The rare moments when I have them on the phone, I rather ask them how they are and what they did with their day.”

The three basketball players will therefore experience the election remotely. For Ross Williams, it is a key moment in the history of the United States: “For me, it is certainly the most important election.” The number 3 of Friborg Olympic believes that his country is divided: “There are the Republicans on one side and the Democrats on the other. Everyone has an opinion and everyone thinks that this opinion must be heard. We try to convince each other, we argue and we don’t get along.”

The Americans from Olympic will not even be in Switzerland on Wednesday morning when the results are announced, since they will play in Romania the same evening, for their fifth EuropeCup match.
