“It’s impossible to do anything else on the side”: a year in the life of the Lebrun brothers, stakhanovists of ping

On October 20, after four days of competition and eleven matches, Alexis Lebrun was double European champion, in singles and doubles. A monumental feat for the Montpellier resident, who is not even entitled to a small glass of champagne to celebrate. Because three days later, it was already necessary to do it again, with the first round of the WTT in Montpellier, a competition won by his brother, Félix, on October 27. Four days later, the table tennis players were still around a table, with the Nîmes-Montpellier Alliance, for a Pro A meeting, before heading to Frankfurt.

Such is the daily life of the Lebrun brothers, engaged this week in Frankfurt, where the eldest lost in the first round on Monday while the younger continued his journey with a 2nd round this Wednesday evening. Table tennis is 365 days a year. Constantly in transport, in tournaments or in training, the Héraultais benefit from very little rest, just like their coach, Nathanaël Molin.
