Bsc Grosseto starts again from Enrico Vecchi. It is a period of great news for the Maremma team that plays in Group A of Serie A: first the change of president, with Antonio Pugliese, replacing the lawyer Massimo Ceciarini, founder of the club in 2012, then the decision of Stefano Cappuccini , the manager who took the boys from via Orcagna from Serie B to the Scudetto semi-final, to take a year off, despite the flattery of BBC Grosseto and Macerata.
And now comes the announcement of the choice of the new leader, one of the great hitters of Italian baseball. Enrico Vecchi has been missing from the highest stage since 2011, the year in which he led Montepaschi BBC in the last year of an unforgettable cycle, which will have to recreate a cycle that wants to remain at the top by taking small steps backwards.
«I’m happy to start this adventure – says Enrico Vecchi, born in 1970 – I’ve been away from baseball for 13 years now. The company’s planning convinced me: they will start from scratch, to stay at the top. I join a company in which Stefano Cappuccini has worked well from a technical point of view. For the moment I won’t name names, the management knows perfectly well I will need a roster made up of so many pitchers, so many internal and so many external players and little by little we will find them. We will start training as soon as possible.” Vecchi also announced the staff: Alessandro Cappuccini pitching coach; Antonio Momi, Alessandro Cipriani, Lino Luciani, Federico Giannoni coach; Michele Mazzilli general manager, Marco Terribile the accompanying manager of the first team.

We don’t want to make an exaggerated team, because we will never be able to reach the big teams, without a 200,000 euro sponsor. The goal will be to stay in the elite group and help these guys grow. It hasn’t been easy in past years, maybe we exaggerated a little too much, we had to make a more gradual transition and make them play more. Unfortunately there was competition with the BBC, we were chasing each other. Instead, we had to go our own way and let our kids grow.”
A joke from Pugliese about the other Serie A club from Grosseto, the BBC, is inevitable: «There are no preclusions, it’s just the corporate form that creates problems. We have created an LLC, we don’t feel like marrying an Asd. When we want to discuss this, the whole situation will be unblocked. We would need a top team and one that works for the growth of young people in groups B, C, D, E. Parma puts 25,000 on the table and takes Liddi, Bologna does the same for Gouvea. But this attitude is light years away from us, even if we did the merger. Would we have 50-70K to get two dominant pitchers? I say no. The only way we can get close is to create a core group of six-seven local athletes, to which we can add 3-4 EU and foreign athletes.”
