Elmshorn: Alligators celebrate 35 years of baseball history

The baseball-bundesliga-another-newcomer-from-the-usa-elmshorn-alligators-get-donald-stone/” title=”2. Baseball Bundesliga: Another newcomer from the USA: Elmshorn Alligators get Donald Stone”>Elmshorn Alligators have written 35 years of baseball history, making them one of the oldest baseball teams in northern Germany. As expected, the anniversary was a highlight of the year. The old warriors of the past (80s) tried to look as fresh in their sportswear as they did back then – not everyone managed it. But the friendly game showed that once you’ve learned something, you don’t forget it so easily. Only here and there did my own body get in the way.

Our number 3, Thomas “Tiger” Venzke, has hung up his glove after more than 30 years. He is the last of the “back then” to say goodbye to active baseball. This past season he gave everything again for the Alligators, starting the season as a dual leader, coach and player. As in previous years, he was still one of the best players in the 2nd Bundesliga North. Unfortunately, the team was not able to make the season gold. We have been working on rebuilding for two years in order to build on championship successes like 2019. But it still needs some time.

The Elmshorn Alligators student and youth teams became national champions in their leagues in the 2024 season. Congratulations! Both teams prevailed against strong opponents from Kiel and Hamburg and only lost one game out of six in the final round. Both teams will also be strong in 2025 and will hopefully build on their successes.
