:Dominant Zverev confidently wins the final
Alexander Zverev is in top form before the ATP Finals. With a 6:2, 6:2 in the final against Ugo Humbert, the Hamburg native won a Masters tournament in Paris for the seventh time.
What is the mode?
Unlike all other important tournaments on the tour, a group phase will first be played, as is known from major football events.
The best two in each of the two groups of four qualify for the semi-finals. The next day, the big final takes place in front of 20,000 spectators on the hard court in Turin, which is hosting the finals for the fourth time in a row.
Who plays in which group?
Alexander Zverev is set as group leader. He will face French Open and Wimbledon winner Carlos Alcaraz as well as the Norwegian Casper Ruud and the Russian Andrej Rublew.
What are Zverev’s chances?
After his triumph at the Masters in Paris, Zverev is traveling with plenty of tailwind, even if he rarely looked good against the absolute top players this year. Nevertheless: Despite health setbacks, no player on the tour has won more games this year than Zverev. The 27-year-old loves the tournament and was crowned unofficial world champion at the finals in 2018 and 2021.
And in doubles?
Angelique Kerber wants to pass on her experience to players as a kind of mentor. However, it will still be a while until the next German tennis star appears.02.11.2024 | 18:05 min
What about the tennis women?
The tennis players also compete in the WTA finals every year. This year the tournament, which has the same status as the men’s event, will take place from November 2nd to 9th in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). German players are not there.
