Amateur basketball – Women’s National 2: Gimont hosts Avrillé to build a winning series

the essential
After three consecutive victories, Étoile Sportive de Gimont intends to extend the series this Saturday, November 9, at 8 p.m., with the reception of Avrillé.

Looking at the ranking, one might think that the task should not be too complicated for the Gimontoises, the club from the Angevin suburbs appearing in 10th place with a record of 2 wins for 4 defeats. But don’t be fooled.

The Maine-et-Loire club has recruited several players from the UFAB, the Angevin club currently at the top of La Boulangère Wonderligue, the French first division: the young Éva Picault and Amandine Bruy, two backs who mainly played with the training center and who made a few appearances for the senior team.

Alice Chéré also came to strengthen the ASA, she is an interior from the Bourges training center. Suffice to say that the club has strengthened itself with talented players but still lacking experience. A lack which constitutes one of the reasons for the chaotic departure of the Avrillaises, the other being due to the fact that the collective of coach Frédéric Cosset is not yet completely oiled.

A flaw which is mainly felt in defense where, with 71 points conceded on average per match, Avrillé is in 12th and last place in the ranking in this sector. And since the team only scores 59.7 points on average, that explains their current overall ranking. On the other hand, the Avrillaises stand out for their physical power, their intensity and their strong presence on the rebound, an area that the Gimontoises sometimes have difficulty controlling.

Four successes for two setbacks

The ESG will therefore have to be wary of an opponent who looks like still water. ESG is currently tied for 3rd in the group with 4 wins and 2 losses, has the 4th attack (66.8 points scored) and the 5th defense (59.3 points conceded). The Gers team is capable of producing a balanced game between high-level defense, wild counter-attacks and varied attacks, between the distant arrows of Caroline Deroo or Lisa Perrissé, the penetrations of Sarah Albinet or Lola Marin, the baskets near the circle of Pauline Dambrun and Myriam Abdeljebbar.
