NFL: Panthers offer 4-year contract extension to Chuba Hubbard

The Carolina Panthers have offered a four-year, $33.2 million contract extension to Canadian running back <a href="https://www.archysport.com/2022/02/nfl-pool-hunting-for-ball-carriers/" title="NFL pool: hunting for ball carriers”>Chuba Hubbard, reports Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Rapoport adds that Hubbard’s contract will have a maximum value of $37.2 million, of which $15 million is guaranteed.

Hubbard, a fourth-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, is currently having his best season with the Panthers (2-7). He ranks fifth in the NFL in receiving yards (665), averaging five yards per carry and five rushing touchdowns. He also caught 26 passes for 108 yards and an additional major.

The Albertan rushed for 72 yards and scored two touchdowns, including the one that made the difference at the end of the fourth quarter, in a 23-22 victory for the Panthers against the New Orleans Saints last Sunday.

Hubbard could have become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the campaign.
