Last weekend (November 2nd – 3rd, 2024) the West German Badminton Championships took place in Mülheim an der Ruhr. Even the path to taking part in such tournaments is rocky and steep. Finn Kuhlmann, who is currently completing a voluntary social year at BC Beuel after graduating from high school, was able to secure a top spot through strong performance. In the men’s singles U19 he made it to first place and qualified directly for the German championship. In his second year, Finn is playing for BC Beuel, now in the regional league. TV Kall cannot offer an environment for this level of play, but Finn is still a loyal member of our club. (Finn Kuhlmann picture above middle)
Our girls, Johanna Pütz and Nicole Bauer, qualified for the tournament in women’s doubles and women’s singles. After winning the first few games, they narrowly lost in the knockout system to the strong competition, the first seeded players on the seeding list. Mattis Kuhlmann and Emil Berg had a similar fate, being eliminated in the men’s doubles in the second game in the knockout system.
We are very proud of the strong performances of our athletes, the support of organizers, coaches, supervisors and parents. We would especially like to thank Sascha Kuhlmann, who plans and coordinates participation in the tournaments. This is an essential contribution to successful participation.
