Vendée Globe: “The biggest challenge for me is almost loneliness,” says Yoann Richomme

Launched in November 1989, the legendary Vendée Globe race, nicknamed “the Everest of the seas”, has become one of the most famous sailing competitions in the world. Tomorrow, Sunday November 10, 2024, Les Sables-d’Olonne will kick off this tenth edition where 40 skippers will board Imoca, these ultra-fast monohulls sometimes compared to the “Formula One of the seas”. They are preparing to take on a solo world tour, more than two and a half months facing the raging oceans. Among these exceptional sailors, Yoann Richomme, skipper of the Imoca Paprec Arkéa and double winner of the Solitaire du Figaro (2016, 2019) and the Route du Rhum (2018, 2022), is embarking for the first time in this extreme adventure.
