Eleven horses from Germany, France and England will compete in the Grand Allianz Prix of Bavaria at the Munich-Riem racetrack on Sunday. So many starters are a rarity, says Sascha Multerer, the managing director of the Munich racing club.
And the quality of the participants is also something special: According to Multerer, the last Group 1 race of the season across Europe is “by far the best Group 1 race of the season in Germany”. The German hopes lie primarily in the four-year-old Straight from the Karlshof Stud.
He recently followed up his strong second place in the Prize of Europe (Cologne, Group 1) in September, when he narrowly had to bow to the world-class horse Rebel’s Romance, with a Group 2 victory in Milan. The Grand Prix in Riem is worth 155,000 euros. The first of the day’s nine races starts at 11:15 a.m., the Grand Allianz Prix of Bavaria is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
