Last season they drew 4:4 and suffered a 5:3 defeat. Now we managed a 5:3 win in Badenstadt. SG Ahlem/Badenstedt/Velbert 1 welcomed our 4th team (hobby team) as second in the table.

The game traditionally started with three doubles. Our ladies Astrid and Monika were able to win the two sets relatively quickly. The men’s doubles were different: Michael (who replaced the sick Alex) and Oliver were initially able to play strongly in the 2nd HD but then lost very narrowly in the third set. The 1st HD with Jens and Peter did this the other way around, after a safe first set there was a narrow defeat in the second and then the third was also narrowly decided for us.
The individuals showed a similarly balanced picture. Astrid confidently won the DE and paved the way to the lead. Jens in the 1st HE also had little trouble. Unfortunately, Peter couldn’t continue the success story in the 2nd game and after a close first set he lost clearly in the 2nd. Now Oli came into play in the 3rd game, after the first set he had to interrupt his game due to injury. To be fair, his opponent agreed to the break. Meanwhile, the mixed Monika/Michael came onto the field and won the first set. In the second the opponent equalized and forced us into a third set again. At the same moment Oli tried to continue his game and also forced his opponent into the third set. In this phase the game was in the balance.
Win or draw? It was a victory because the mixed team made the decision in the third and was actually able to save Oli, but he wanted to fight through. Unfortunately, this wasn’t rewarded and Oli suffered a three-set defeat due to his injury.
Nevertheless, our SG Lehrte/Sehnde 4 celebrated an unexpected away win and is now in third place in the table. A great result for our team!
