Corrientes‘ participation in the Evita National Games concluded with the obtaining of three new medals that came with the women’s hockey team and the taekwondo representatives.
With this Saturday’s production, the Corrientes delegation finished the 76th edition of the Evita National Games with 15 medals in Youth (conventional sports). In adapted sports, which concluded on Friday, Corrientes won the Silver Cup in Athletics.
The Corrientes girls from Aranduroga achieved third place in the women’s hockey that competed in the Under 16 category, a competition that was won by Entre Ríos, while Misiones finished in second place.
While in taekwondo (Sub 14) Gabriel Rodríguez and Abel Balbastro, both from Santo Tomé, obtained bronze medals for the Corrientes medal table. in their respective categories.
Throughout the competition that took place in Mar del Plata, since last Monday, Corrientes managed to get on the podium with the cyclist Nicolás Almada (gold and silver), the swimmer Sofía Fages (two silver), the athletes Mauricio Ramírez (silver ), Ignacio Cañete (gold) and Luciana Gómez (bronze).
Weightlifters Nathaniel Villalba Pannunzio (gold), Valentina Cabral (gold), Mauricio Mareco (gold) and Aníbal Fernández (bronze) and taekwondo players Gabriel Rodríguez (bronze) and Abel Balbastro (bronze) also stood out.
In addition, the mixed badminton team took third place and the same place went to the women’s hockey team.
The head of the Corrientes Sports Secretariat, Jorge Terrile, valued the exemplary behavior of the Corrientes delegation, which left an excellent image.
“These young people have demonstrated the quality of the people of the great people of Corrientes; and thanks to the firm decision of Governor Gustavo Valdés, the resources were allocated so that the boys could spend some beautiful days competing healthily and demonstrating their talent,” the official highlighted.
The Corrientes delegation, with 350 people, began the return to the province after lunch and awaits arrival on Monday.
The Evita 2024 National Games had a reduced edition. In Mar del Plata there were 7,000 athletes, under 16 years old, who competed in 36 disciplines.
During the Evita Games, coaches and selectors from the Dakar 2026 program were in the spa city to closely follow the boys who have the possibility of representing the country in the next Youth Olympic Games.
