MMA – The former king of the ONE Championship, Reinier de Ridder won his UFC debut at the end of the suspense.
Reinier de Ridder is a Dutch fighter who made the heyday of the ONE Championship. Indeed, The Dutch Knight was crowned double champion (middleweight/light heavyweight) of the company. Moreover, RDR had tried to get a belt in a heavy weight but was stopped by the dangerous Anatoly Malykhin. After several years at ONE, the former two-time champion decided to join the UFC. For his debut in the American company, the latter was opposed to the very experienced Gerald Meerschaert.
More difficult than expected:
Reinier de Ridder was announced as favorite before the meeting. Although he won, everything did not go as planned for The Dutch Knight. If he had good moments in the fight, RDR becomes exhausted and at times suffers attacks from his evening rival. Nevertheless, at the end of the third round, the former ONE Championship found the solution to win. Indeed, the native of Breda strangled his opponent to achieve his first victory in the big league.
