This Sunday evening, Naples held off Inter Milan (1-1) and remains leader of Serie A.
Naples remains leader of the Italian Championship after neutralizing Inter Milan (1-1) on home soil on Sunday at the end of the 12th day of the Italian Championship. Napoli, leading Serie A since the 6th day, opened the scoring thanks to Scott McTominay by victoriously taking a corner.
Inter equalized just before the break with a 20m shot from Hakan Calhanoglu (43rd). The Turkish midfielder had the opportunity to give victory to the reigning Italian champions on a penalty (74th) after a foul by Frank Anguissa on Denzel Dumfries in the penalty area.
But Calhanoglu, a great specialist in the exercise, saw his attempt pushed back by Alex Meret’s right post, his first failure in twenty penalties taken under the Inter jersey.
After this draw, Naples totals 26 points and retains its leading position but finds itself under threat from three unexpected teams, Atalanta (2nd), Fiorentina (3rd) and Lazio (5th), who, in great form, won this Sunday and each have 25 points.
Inter is 4th, also with 25 points, but its record against the other big names in the championship is worrying: it was beaten by its great rival, AC Milan, and drew at home against Juventus (4- 4) and against Naples.
