Experience-rich weekend for young people

We started with 9 judoka at the Berziks Open Tournament in Jülich.

For some children it was their first competition, for others it was their first tournament after a long break. There was a lot of excitement and anticipation.

Felix Carbin (U12, -33kg) won the silver medal after a victory with a foot technique and a narrowly lost fight. The other 3rd places in the U12 went to Fynn Kretschmer, Henrik Schiffer, Jonathan Hauser, Bela Sierries and Mina Suljic. Fynn and Henrik each won one fight in their weight class. Fynn had a hold after two Wazaari scores, and once he lost very unfortunately due to inattention. Henrik won a fight without a fight. Both also showed two more good fights with strong grip fighting. Jonathan also had a very close fight. He was able to catch up with a leading score just before and became more confident. Unfortunately, the throw came a little too late and the judge’s decision went to his opponent.

In the U10, Moritz Berkel and Enna Suljic secured 3rd place after good fights and good approaches. Unfortunately, Enna lost a fight very narrowly after being in the lead towards the end of the fight with Ippon. Lennart Müther (U14) was the only one there on Saturday; he unfortunately had to stop the tournament early due to an injury after a fight.

Overall, a good performance but still needs improvement.
