Canadian prospect Sam Harris is NCAA top scorer

If we cannot be satisfied with the Canadian’s performance so far, we can at least fall back on our hopes.

Our school club, the Laval Rocket, is operating at full capacity with nine victories in eleven games and several of our prospects are doing very well in their respective leagues.

We can think in particular of our two first round picks this year, Ivan Demidov and Michael Hage, as well as goaltender Jacob Fowler, who obtained his third shutout today.

However, a Canadian prospect who is much less talked about currently ranks first in NCAA scoring with nine goals in nine games. This is Sam Harris, a fifth-round pick, 133rd overall, in the 2023 draft.

He moved into the scoring lead following a three-goal performance this weekend in a victorious double for his team, the University of Denver, against Lindenwood University.

In addition to first place in scoring, his thirteen points give him seventh place in points on the American university circuit. All while playing on his team’s second line. No worse overall!

Moreover, Denver is currently the highest ranked team in the NCAA and is still undefeated after ten games.

And for those wondering why Harris is playing on the second line with stats like that, it’s simply that his teammates on the first line, Jack Devine and Aidan Thompson, both hold the lead in scoring with seventeen points. each.

The Pioneers have five players among the top twelve in scoring this season and they are currently the team to beat in the NCAA.

This is a more than interesting start to the season for Sam Harris after a rather ordinary first campaign of 21 points, including 14 goals, in 42 games.

However, we can wonder whether this is a real blossoming for the Canadian’s hopes or a good streak. In the second case, it could be an incredible steal for a fifth-round pick, if he were to continue to perform like this.

On the other hand, only the future will tell us.

However, with three Canadian prospects, Sam Harris, Jacob Fowler and Michael Hage, performing well with their teams ranked first, second and seventh in the NCAA respectively, it’s an excellent time to start looking at the college hockey.
