Both teams after the effort

The Fous du Volant‘s first interclub-leisure outing in Armagnac ended in a defeat against Vic‘s team. Losing a match is not dramatic, especially in a club whose primary goal is to offer a sporting and friendly leisure activity to the inhabitants of Condom and the surrounding area. Because for their first outing, the players involved did not do poorly within a new team which has not yet fully established itself. Competitors at heart, this season they have the heavy responsibility of replacing more experienced predecessors who had accustomed the club to frequent success. Why did they leave the team? Obviously, some have joined the clubs of the cities where they are continuing their studies while others who still live “in the country” and who are encouraged by the club, wish to raise their level of play by becoming federated players (FFBad) and become ranked by participating in more ambitious tournaments more in line with their sporting skills and hopes. Should we conclude that by being a place for the emergence of possible champions whose measure will benefit other clubs, generally urban ones, the Condom club only has a thankless role? No, say the club leaders who prefer the terms modesty and nobility. If it is not glory, a possibly vain value, there always remains great pride and strong bonds of friendship which contribute to the beautiful friendly atmosphere of the club and which are noted each time their champions give them the pleasure of a visit, or even that of exchanging a few shuttlecocks and providing valuable advice which will ensure that the new team will soon experience the joys of victory. Finally, the club would like to thank their one-day opponents, their friends from Vic, for their always very warm welcome.
