The case of Tampa Bay Rays player Wander Franco is becoming increasingly complicated, with the 23-year-old athlete who was released on parole this time finding himself in the middle of a heated altercation.
The ESPN network reported Monday that the Dominican was arrested in San Juan de la Maguana, in his native country. Franco was allegedly involved in a spat the day before in the parking lot of an apartment complex. Guns were allegedly pulled out.

The shortstop and a woman were arrested and are being questioned by police.
Franco is already in the crosshairs of Dominican justice for a completely different story. He was granted parole in January, two days after being charged with commercial sexual exploitation and money laundering by the Puerto Plata Prosecutor’s Office.
In August 2023, it was a 14-year-old girl who declared on social networks that she had a relationship with the baseball player. Franco was imprisoned in December for refusing to comply with a summons, following two failed searches by the child and adolescent safety department of the city of San Domingo.
The teen’s mother was also charged in the case, allegedly receiving a car and thousands of dollars in exchange for her consent.
Franco last played in major league baseball in August. He made a sensational debut with the Rays by finishing third in the rookie of the year voting in 2021, at only 20 years old. He also played in the All-Star Game in 2023.
