Cremonese has chosen to interrupt the technical guidance of Eugenio Corini and to restore confidence in Giovanni Stroppa.
The two consecutive defeats, against Pisa and Mantua, and the lack of a clear idea of the game led the club to decide to attempt a new turning point by sacking the former Palermo player and starting again with Mulazzano’s coach.
Arriving after the fifth matchday of last season, Stroppa led the Grigiorossi to enjoy promotion, first reaching second place in the standings at the beginning of 2024, then reaching the playoff final. Meanwhile, the decline that had created some bad mood. At the end of the season the club’s desire to strengthen the project with Stroppa at the helm but in the championship his 3-5-2 was no longer offering the desired results.
After the home draw with Bari (1-1), Stroppa was relieved of his duties and in his place at Arvedi center came Eugenio Corini: two victories (with Juve Stabia and Salernitana), a draw (in Modena) and two knockouts (with Pisa and Mantua), seasoned with performances not up to the grey-reds’ ambitions, led to the ex-Palermo’s dismissal.
With the break ahead and the possibility of working two weeks in a row indoors at the Arvedi centre, Stroppa will now have the mission of bringing Cremonese back to the top of the table.
